Extension Home Care Guide

Maintaining your install at home is essential for healthy hair, longevity of your extensions, and a polished finish. Failure to follow these instructions may result in matting, tangling, buildup, or the need for an early reinstall.

General Care Guidelines (All Install Types)

Cleansing

Hair should be cleansed every 2–3 weeks.

Shampoo both the scalp and the extension hair. Extensions also collect dirt, oil, and product buildup.

Always rinse thoroughly.

Drying (Required)

Hair must be completely dried after every cleanse.

An overhead/hooded dryer is REQUIRED for proper drying.

Air-drying, bonnet blow-drying, or partial drying is not sufficient.

Damp roots or braids can cause odor, buildup, root tangling, and mold or mildew.

Improper drying is one of the most common causes of matting and scalp issues.

Products

Use professional-grade products only.

Avoid excessive product use at the scalp or attachment points.

Night Care

Wrap hair nightly with a silk or satin scarf.

A silk pillowcase is recommended as backup protection.

Do not sleep with hair loose.

Closure Sew-In Care

Cleansing & Adjustments

Cleanse every 2–3 weeks.

Closure installs must be properly dried to prevent lifting and buildup.

Clients are strongly encouraged to come in for a professional cleanse and closure adjustment.

If you choose not to come in, you are responsible for strictly following the care instructions provided.

Product Rules

Mousse is allowed on the closure when used correctly.

Use a light amount and avoid excessive buildup.

Do not apply oils, grease, or heavy products near the lace or knots.

Styling Rules

Do not pull the hair into tight ponytails or styles.

The closure may be parted, but only within the designated closure area.

Excessive or forceful re‑parting outside of this area is not permitted.

Maintenance Timeline

Closure adjustments are not included and are strongly recommended every 3 weeks to maintain the integrity of the install.

Clients who choose to skip recommended adjustments assume responsibility for any lifting, buildup, or damage that may occur.

A full reinstall is recommended at 9 weeks.

Beaded Sew-In Care (Microlinks)

Cleansing

Shampoo every 2–3 weeks.

Pay close attention to drying the roots completely.

Conditioning

Conditioner is allowed, but it must not saturate the beads.

Apply conditioner from mid-shaft to ends only.

Maintenance Timeline

Beads must be moved every 4–6 weeks.

Root tangling is commonly caused by improper drying or overdue maintenance.

Sew-In With Leave-Out Care

Cleansing

Cleanse every 2–3 weeks.

Ensure braids and leave-out are fully dried.

Moisture

Moisturize leave-out weekly using lightweight, water-based products.

Styling

Heat protectant is required when using hot tools.

Avoid excessive heat to prevent breakage and damage.

Important Notes

Ignoring these care instructions may result in matting, tangling, mold, mildew, or additional service fees.

Adjustments may be declined if the install has not been properly maintained.

Healthy hair requires both professional maintenance and consistent home care.
